This was our last week of our series "The Heart of Worship." The last two weeks we've been focusing on the importance of musical worship, but I wanted to make sure we took a week to understand that worship is not just music. There are LOTS of ways to worship God. Romans 12:1 says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship."
Romans makes it very clear that it's the giving of ourselves to God is what makes something worship. A worship pastor I once knew said it like this, "You worship the thing you love the most."
Worship can be simply listening to God. Worship can be creating an art piece that glorifies God. Worship is prayer, communion, reading God's word. There is so much that worship is. So I challenged the kids with this: How are you worshiping God with yourself?
Is it through the sport you play? The art you create? The words you say? The stillness in your heart? What is it that you do to bring glory to God?
Ask your kids!! There answers might just surprise you. Have a great week!
